Policy and record
Takedowns
What you can ask us to remove, what we do with the request, and every request received so far with its outcome. Nothing on this page is deleted; it is how you check that we do what we say.
What can be asked
Anyone can ask us to withdraw a quoted sentence, a reply, a document, or a whole case. The usual grounds are that a sentence is not in the article or is cut in a way that changes its meaning; that a quote is attributed to someone who did not write it; that a reply or document contains personal data that should not be public; or that a court order or a copyright claim applies.
Write to legal@reply.press with the link to the page, what exactly should come down and why. People named in a case can also ask from the case page itself, sentence by sentence, while signed in.
What we do with it
We acknowledge every request and decide it within 5 working days. An editor reads the original article before deciding. The person who asked is told the outcome and the reason.
An accepted request withdraws the material from public view but does not erase the record: the sentence keeps its position, date of withdrawal and reason, and the case page says that something was withdrawn. A refused request is also recorded here, so that a refusal cannot be hidden either. The founder does not decide requests about cases in which he is named.
Copyright notices under the DMCA follow the same route; see the legal notice for the designated address.
